Lilac Place is a community hub for women, female-identified, and gender-expansive people in Cumberland County. We provide one-on-one support, peer connections, drop-ins, and group programming that foster belonging and resilience. Alongside these supports, we offer resources and referrals to help community members navigate challenges and access what they need.
We promote healthy living, nurture community care, and advocate for equity across all issues that impact our lives. As a feminist organization, we are committed to intersectionality—recognizing that systemic barriers, such as colonialism, racism, classism, ableism, and homophobia, prevent many people from accessing support.
At Lilac Place, we strive to create a space of affirmation, learning, and solidarity, where those facing gender-based oppression can find connection, safety, and the tools to thrive.
Our Mission
We believe that female-identified, gender-expansive, and women’s economic and social independence is central to women’s equality. To that end, we work with all people to achieve an equitable and equal world for women, female-identified, and gender-expansive people.
Our Mandate
Direct Service
We provide supportive counselling, information, referrals, advocacy, and programs that respond to the diverse needs of women, girls, and gender expansive individuals. Our programming focuses on personal empowerment, healing from sexual violence, and building economic independence. Through compassionate, confidential support, we meet people where they are and walk alongside them in their journeys toward strength and self-determination.
Social Change
Lilac Place also works for systemic change. We unite individuals, communities, and government partners to advance gender equity and create safer, more just communities. Using a community development model, we collaborate with other organizations to identify and address gaps in services for women, girls, and gender expansive people. Our advocacy, education, and partnerships aim to transform not only individual lives but also the social conditions that shape them.
